KANALHUSET

02.09.2020

Across the bridge from the Royal Theatre in the heart of the historic Christianshavn district in central Copenhagen, visitors are now able to set eyes on Kanalhuset. A former military base, the building dates back to 1754 and now contains 12 boutique hotel rooms, 14 hotel apartments, a bar and a restaurant where chef Kristoffer Josefsson - who has a particularly good eye for seasonal ingredients and a catalogue of recipes from all over the world - serves his meal of the evening every day at 7 p.m. .

Danish entrepreneur Lennart Lajboschitz’s ambition was to take the hotel out of hotel and create a home away from home. Hence, the interiors set an eclectic scene with the furniture pieces being hand picked by Lennart’s wife Suzanne and placed together to form a cosy environment where the danish concept of ‘hygge’ takes over.
